CHARLIE BURNS grabbed the only goal as Runwell Sports continued their preparation ahead of the new ProKit UK Essex Olympian League campaign, however, manager Michael Wallace wasn’t overly pleased with his side’s display.

Speaking to Yellow Sport after the match, Wallace said: “It’s another game under our belt and another five changes from last week. The building process we are going through is continuing and we are learning more each week. We are still looking at certain people and still looking at our best options in each area.

“We were poor by our own standards within this squad today and gave the ball away very easily. Having said that, we played badly and walked away winning so that’s something to take.

“It could’ve been three or four-nil at half time. We failed to take chances which we generated. But we managed a dodgy spell in the second half and came out the other side.”

Wallace added: “Overall pre-season is coming along nicely. We are still getting to know each other, but we are on track for the first game of the season. The great thing with this squad is that we have competition in each area of the pitch. No one is safe and that’s a positive for everyone.”
