Trust officials delighted after achieving performance targets
Thursday, 13 May 2010
HEALTH officials at Newham Hospital are celebrating after hearing the Trust had achieved or surpassed all 13 key annual national targets in 2009/10.
The Trust bettered the required target of 98 per cent of its patients spending no more than four hours in the Emergency Department from arrival to discharge, transfer or admission. The Trust achieved 98.28 per cent.
Numbers of patients with MRSA bacteraemia and Clostridium Difficile (C.Diff) infections also improved considerably in 2009/10, and proved another example of the Trust surpassing national targets.
There were 10 cases of MRSA, against a target of 12. This was a 33 per cent reduction on the Trust’s 2008/09 performance.
There were 49 attributable cases of C.Diff against a target of 138 in 2009/10 – a 52 per cent improvement in performance compared to 2008/09.
Other national targets which the Trust met or bettered included all those for cancer, along with the targets for 18 week referral to treatment waiting times, inpatient and outpatient waiting times, numbers of cancelled operations, and financial balance.
Michaela Morris, the Trust’s Interim Chief Executive, said: “Delivering high quality, safe and accessible services for patients is the cornerstone of our success.
“I am delighted that we consistently delivered on our targets for 2009/10 and I know every single worker at the Trust is already doing their utmost to ensure that we do the same this year to continually improve all our services for patients.”
